|Congratulations Luxe City Center Workers!|
After two years of struggle, early morning pickets, and late night planning, we won a contract at the Luxe City Center hotel.
In 2009, the hotel renovated their rooms to provide extra luxury for guests, but they also created extra work--lifting, tucking, and glass cleaning-- for the housekeepers.
Luxe fired three women whose bodies, after combined decades of service to the hotel, did not keep up with the quota.
Our long fight in solidarity with workers from other hotels resulted in the Luxe hotel settling with workers.
Luxe City Center agreed to rehire the three fired workers and hire more housemen to help with the extra bedding.
Thanks to the hard work, creativity, and perseverance of workers, union members, students, organizers, and community members from all over Los Angeles, we can celebrate yet another Local 11 victory!
