Disney's Academy Awards push for "Toy Story 3" is about to hit a potential roadblock thanks to an anti-Oscar campaign by union hotel employees at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
On Monday evening, members of the Unite Here union have scheduled an informational picket outside Disney Studios to coincide with a "Toy Story 3" screening for members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. They plan to tote placards reading "Don't Vote for Disney," according to Unite Here spokeswoman Leigh Shelton.

IRVINE – More than 30 Embassy Suites workers gathered in front of their workplace Wednesday morning to protest what they say are unfair working conditions and a backlash to their efforts to unionize.
From front desk agents to housekeepers, the Embassy Suites employees, along with Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice representatives, delivered a letter to management asking for a better workplace environment.

The Embassy Suites Hotel in Irvine, under boycott since September over alleged unfair working conditions, has been sold to an undisclosed buyer.
The hotel was formerly owned by HEI Hotels and Resorts, an investment group that buys hotels and operates them under the Marriott, Hilton and Embassy Suites brands. The group recently sold off two hotels in Philadelphia, according to the CT Post.

Hollywood unions and trade orgs are ditching the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza for their award shows due to a labor dispute.
The Directors Guild of America, citing the hotel's talks with the Unite Here union, announced Wednesday that it has shifted its Jan. 29 awards show from the Century Plaza to the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland.

HEI Hotels & Resorts just sold the 293-suite Embassy Suites Irvine-Orange County Airport for an undisclosed price.
The Norwalk, Conn.-based investor in hotel properties reportedly says the sale will allow it to implement further cost-cutting at the hotel by managing the property. But it also kicks to the undisclosed buyer a labor dispute that has been boiling there for months--over HEI's existing cost-cutting moves.
